My Story

Welcome! I’m Brittany and I’m so happy that you’re here. I’m a Body Control Pilates certified Matwork Teacher based in south Brussels, Belgium.


After nearly a decade in the corporate world, I decided to make a career change and retrained as a Pilates instructor with Body Control Pilates in London, UK, certifying in 2021. I began my own Pilates practice following a knee injury and it quickly became part of my weekly routine. I was so relieved to find a resistance training program that didn’t cause any joint pain and at the same time made me stronger and more toned. I continued my practice throughout my pre and postnatal periods and I greatly credit Pilates for helping me restore my core strength and confidence after pregnancy. I strongly believe in the mind - body connection and that a regular Pilates practice significantly improves both physical and mental wellbeing.

About Pilates

Joseph Pilates suffered from numerous childhood illnesses which motivated him to establish his own fitness regime, taking inspiration from multiple disciplines such as yoga, gymnastics, dance, and weight training. He perfected this method while training himself and others in England as well as his native Germany. In 1926, he emigrated to the US and set up his own studio alongside his wife Clara in New York City. He soon attracted top ballet dancers, boxers and athletes to train according to his method, originally called Contrology. He continued training at his NY studio until his death in 1967, after which his apprentices continued teaching his method. 


Pilates’ method consisted of six principles: concentration, control, centring, flowing movement, breathing and precision. Much of the matwork we practice today is taken directly from his Classical Matwork repertoire - a sequence of movements that challenges our stamina while maintaining these six principles.
